BIRIS is a UHF radio controlled remote initiation system designed for the remote initiation of explosives and pyrotechnics for the purpose of battle simulation, inoculation and explosive range demolitions.
A standard BIRIS system comprises one transmitter and five receivers, with a maximum of ten receivers achievable.
Each receiver can initiate ten individual firing circuits, each with a resistance no greater than 25 ohms. Receivers can be configured to be either individually or collectively addressed.
The operating range of BIRIS is 2-3km in urban terrain, 3-5km in open terrain and 10-25km line of sight.
